We have the world to live in on the condition that we will take good care of it.

And to take good care of it, we have to know it.

And to know it and to be willing to take care of it, we have to love it.

In 2014 Angele and I sold our home in Vermont, moved into our new 42-foot fifth-wheel trailer, and headed out onto America's highways. Our plan was to bird all the birding hot spots, and discover some amazing places to photograph. This is best accomplished by residing in one area long enough to scout out the best locations, and to be present when the birds show up or the best light occurs. By volunteering in our National Parks and Wildlife Refuges we would have both long-term access to some remarkable locals and would also be providing some valuable service to these agencies. We had no idea how rewarding a lifestyle of service and stewardship would become, nor how important. This is our story.
